Typeface Design

Although it looks simple, typeface design is much more than simply putting together a family of similar looking letters.

This typeface was inspired by the futuristic, sci-fi look. Because of its bold look, it is created with the purpose of being used for headers. The type’s extra wide body gives it a solid stance, while the spaces between strokes creates a more minimal look and more breathing space.

During the process of developing the typeface, I learned the importance of details. The construction of the letters were done on a grid to ensure that they were equal in size and weight; however, some characters appeared different once the grid was removed. To solve this problem, the characters were adjusted by eye. Through this project, I learned how to effectively develop quality graphics and better judgment.
